This is a comfortable Victorian pub which feels really friendly. Not too far from the Sussex Ox in Afriston.

The long wood-floored bar and adjacent open areas, one with a log fire, are simply furnished with old pews and pine tables (each with their own bar game or wooden puzzle and much enjoyed by readers), and have well kept Harveys Best, Hop Back Summer Lightning, and Timothy Taylors Landlord on handpump.

Food is served here too at lunchtimes and evening. On Sundays and holidays it gets busy for food so it can be a bit of a crush in the space left for drinkers.
