The Pear Tree

The Pear Tree, dating from 1750, is a delightful country pub and restaurant in an attractive setting overlooking wooded parkland.

A cottage garden surrounds the buildings and there is an extensive patio area with solid teak furniture and parasols. To the front there's a large boules piste, and the inn fields a team for the annual Bath Boules Competition.

The bar is a comfortable domain for locals and visitors alike, with a good choice of real ales on hand pump and wines by the glass.

The same food is available throughout from an extensive carte, a set lunch menu priced for two or three courses, and a choice of toasted sandwiches with imaginative fillings, like Parma ham with rocket, viola aubergine and parmesan. Typical dishes are steamed Fowey mussels with light curry cream, and fillet of Stokes Marsh beef with wild mushrooms, potato and pancetta torte and red wine sauce.
