Anyone passing The Monkton Inn should disregard the pub's sign "The famous Monkton Inn, Bad Food, Bad Management, we recommend you don't come in" as this is certainly misleading! A former 18th century manor house with stone floors and a large interior that incorporates a small public bar, spacious lounge bar and a stylish restaurant. Clean and friendly with a real fire. There are no steps so disabled access is excellent. Toilets are also in an exemplary condition. The food is terrific sourced by Scrivens of North Petherton (one of the few butchers with its own abattoir). A head chef by profession, Marcus's Italian heritage plays a great part in the preparation of the excellent dishes that appear on the superb menu here whilst his natural flair for entertaining ensures that this is a place with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
