The George and Dragon  

This pub is situated to the north of Sheffield, not far off the M1. It has its own brewery nearby and sells the bottled versions in the village shop across the road. A pub with many different drinking areas, it has access for the disabled from at least one of its entrances.

The pub itself dates back from the 16th century and this can be seen in the uneven shape of doorways and floors, but merely adds to its charm. The pub extends to the rear and in front with some small rooms with a traditional pub feel including memorabilia on the walls from the local farming community - note the interesting double entrance doors.

The main bar faces you on entrance and is 'L' shaped with chalk boards above the bar advertising both the beers on and food available.

There are no stools at the bar so it makes it possible to get served in this busy pub.

Beers on at the time came from around the country but always include one or two from the Wentworth brewery. All were served well, though be prepared for a funny look when you want the sparkler off. Prices were keen and this was true for the food as well.

Food is served lunchtimes and early evening and is wholesome and looks home cooked from local produce.

There are other rooms, some up steps, and negotiating with a wheelchair can be difficult, but is possible in the main bar area.

This pub is well worth a visit at any time of day.
