The Tilted Wig

The Wig is right on the Market Place and has a real personality. It caters for all tastes with four distinct seating areas.

The first is the outside seating area for summer. The pub really takes over a large part of the square directly from its front. You could be in Europe when the sun shines.

The second to the right of the entrance has tall narrow butchers blocks with bench style seating. Very friendly and the green tops are pleasant on the eye. Alas there is a large flat screen here which does show football, rather loudly on our visit.

The second area is just as close to the bar and in the window to the left of entrance. This has more genteel tables with rattan chairs. Here you can sit in the large window area and soak up the atmosphere. This is nice in summer as the sun really heats you up and keeps you out of the wind.

The final area is round to the left towards the back of the pub and is darker with wood panelling on the walls and if you look carefully, a pair of boots coming through the ceiling. Alas there is also a flat screen TV here with the football on.

If you go past the toilets there is a rear beer garden too, though watc out for smokers here.

The listed Georgian building is one of the oldest public houses in Warwick and has been licensed in one shape or form since 1694.

The Wig belongs to the Slaughterhouse brewery so it serves one of their beers named for the pub. Though you would hope it served a fuller range, but that should tell you something about its main clientèle. They do have Leffe on draught, but nothing else.

Food is served here most of the day and is traditional with a bit of flair. Unfortunately there are only two choices for vegetarians.

Centrally situated in the heart of Warwick’s thriving market town, The Wig's prime location is just a stroll away from Warwick Castle, and Warwick Racecourse is just a few minutes walk away too.

Wheelchair access is limited and not recommended.

There is a no car parking available here and other than pay car parks, very limited.

The B&B accommodation overlooks the market square.
