Old Fourpenny Shop hotel

Situated down the road almost opposite the entrance to Warwick Castle, really handy if you want to stay somewhere close.

This pub is actually an M&B establishment with a split level bar serving up to six real ales at any one time. The seating area is snug, not a lot of room at all. Traditional dominos are played, though they can be loud in the cramped space. I would hate to see it busy.

The decor is old pictures and your grannies cast-offs and gives it the air of a locals and middle-aged pub. Strange looks were given when asked to remove the sparkler. This didn't help the beer as it was served a little too cold.

Bar food is served and is traditional fayre at Warwick prices. More interesting fayre is served in a separate restaurant and naturally costs more. No food in the evenings.

Accommodation and full English breakfast is also available in the £65-£85 bracket and is comfortable with tea facilities. Not many en-suite rooms so book early. The pub has three crowns with the English tourist board. If you cant get in here, the Wheatsheaf on the corner of Crompton Street does B&B as well and traditional pub food.
