Anchor Inn

Situated in the centre of the village, the Anchor sits up high overlooking a bend in the road. There is a beer garden in front of the pub, but as this is up high from the road and the road is not busy, it is not unpleasant. You enter through a small porch with leaflets into a conformatble but not large bar. There is seating to the right with a real fire. The kitchen is also near here and the smell of food wafts through to tempt your tastebuds. The rest of the bar is 'L' shape round the bar which is split with a pillar. The far end of the 'L' is round the corner and wasn't lit on this ocassion. You will also find the toilets for the gents here - up steps I'm afraid. Decor is traditional in that there are village scenes, but also one corner that seems to be a shrine to rallying. The beers are all from the main players, but are well kept and served. Food is served here Tuesday to Sunday and is traditional - can get busy for Sunday lunches so book.

The atmosphere here is convivial and the landlord can be effusive, busily making everyone feel welcome. Also look out for the pub cat which likes to be in the pub, but keeps getting put out.

Buses stop here from Loughborough, but they are not plentyful, so check your timetable.

All in all, well worth a stop.
