White Ball Inn

This is a Wetherspoon pub, but is one of the best in Tiverton, so should be in anyone's guide.

Access for the disabled is possible, though you need to come at the pub from the rear and not the front as there are steps down into the pub here on the banks of the river Exe.

Once inside, you have some round tables and chairs in front of you before you hit the bar area to the right. This is not a long affair by some standards and could cause trouble getting served at peak periods as people stack up at the bar.

The decor is typical Wetherspoon, though you should look out for the visible well in the bar area. You can step on the glass top, but don't look down!! As this is along thin pub, you can go quite a way into it to find seating all the way down its length. At the bottom there are booths and behind some pillars bench style seating and tables. From there you get a view to the river, though it's not the easiest to see.

There are usually three guest ales on here and the obligatory local brew from Exmoor. All were served well and at a price you cant sniff at.

Food is served all day and comes from regularly updated menus again at a price you'll like.

Worth a stop in in the area.

No accommodation here.

Comments

I agree with everything in this review, although it should be noted that the 'well' is a great feature of this pub, often overlooked. Good friendly staff, nice food, the only real gripe is getting a drink on a Saturday night, be prepared to wait!
