The Derby Arms

A short drive from junction 32 of the M6, the Derby Arms offers stunning views across Parlick and Beacon Fells at the start of the Trough of Bowland, once a royal hunting ground.

The chance to gaze upon some of Lancashire’s finest scenery is worth a stop-off in itself and you’ll savour it even more after sampling the Derby’s menu. It ranges from pub staples — steak, sausages, hotpots and steamed puddings — to the bizarre (Chinese new year was celebrated with spring roll filled with chicken livers, and haggis-filled won tons).

Run for 24 years by William Walme and his family, the Derby Arms has a great sense of humour, and its beers include Theakston and Black Sheep.
