The Woolpack

A group of buildings laid out rather like a farm from the outside. There is a skittle alley/function room on the car park, hired out for events.

The pub itself is a combination of spaces. Out back there is a sun trap conservatory with square tables and chairs and an echoey feel, but a pleasant atmosphere, especially in the winter sun which is when you need direct sun on your face or back.

The bar is split into two areas, though only the main bar to the right on entrance has any hand pumps.

On these you will find four real ales - RCH Pitchfork, Duchars IPA, Speckled Hen and Palmers Bitter, though up to two of these are rotating guests. The beers were all well kept and tasted in top form.

The main bar has much cosiness about it with bench seating around the walls and into the bay windows. These windows have stained glass and throw multi-coloured light into the room. Cushions are added for comfort and even the ordinary chairs have some comfort. The rest of the decor is dark carpet and colourful walls that have local pictures and other images on them. They also play darts in this bar and there is a hat/coat stand.

The other bar area is more of a lounge bar without the music and has square tables and chairs and the same dark carpet. The ladies toilets are here as is the entrance to the conservatory. In both bars there are fireplaces, which in really cold winters can be used, but which are not always. A handy stop from the motorway as it is just off the M5, it is also close to Wolde train station.

Food is served here both lunch and evenings and is traditional fayre but also has selections like sea bass. The prices range up to £9.95, though steak can cost slightly more.

For the summer there is a beer garden seating area, though this is by the car park. As it is on a busy road we would not recommend unsupervised children out here.
