The Winchester Gate  

The Winchester Gate has changed hands since it was last in this guide. I has now a range of beers from Courage, so it wont have the smaller micro-breweries. At time of visit, it had Caledonian XPA, Fullers London Pride and one other.

The main bar is more bar than pub-like and as you would expect there is a pool table and TV and musc. There are stools at the bar and some comfortable seats around the walls.

The second room - where you will actually see the beers on stillage - has a wood burning stove and exposed natural floorboards.

The pub was formerly a 17th century coaching Inn.

Food is available.

Best: Beer of very good quality served by a friendly knowledgeable staff.
