White Horse  

Set in the north Essex countryside "The White Horse Inn & Hotel" at Ridgewell is ideally situated for the nearby attractions of the Colne Valley Railway, the Castle at Castle Hedingham, Gainsborough's birthplace at Sudbury, historic Lavenham and Audley End House near Saffron Walden.

The spacious bar is welcoming and comfortable with sofa's to lounge on by the open fire. If you are here just for a drink and real ale is your tipple, you will not be disappointed with the choice of an ever-changing range of guest beers all served straight from the cask.

As well as enjoying a snack in the bar, we also have a large separate non-smoking restaurant. The menu changes weekly. Many of the dishes on offer are home-made traditional English fayre, often made with ingredients from home-grown produce supplied locally.

The separate newly built Hotel accommodation at the rear of the pub offers two family rooms and eight doubles or twin rooms. The family rooms consist of two separate bedrooms one with a double bed the other with two single beds within the same suite. All rooms are spacious and en-suite. Each room has a television with DVD player as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Every room is suitable for disabled guests. Breakfast may be taken on the patio or in the light and airy Restaurant.

Well behaved children are welcome. There is also access for wheelchair users. Unfortunately there is background music in the pub.

Other facilities are car park, snack bar. sorry no dogs allowed.
