Prince of Wales

The Prince of Wales is the brewery tap for the Princetown Brewery next door. As such it serves a wide selection of the brews, Jail Ale, Dartmoor IPA, etc. All served as good as if you put your mouth under the mash tun. Set in a friendly village, it is opposite the primary school, though thankfully the pub is shut when they leave school. However, it does have a children's certificate and so you can eat with your children should you wish to.

The friendly atmosphere is one of its charms and the locals are very welcoming and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. Recent refurbishment now means that access for the disabled is possible, even to the bar. The decor shows pictures of the brewing process next door and also of the village itself. There are also rugs hung on the granite walls. Seating is at round and square tables with wooden chairs and stools. As this is cider country you can get local varieties, some of which are very tasty, in the summer months (no beer garden). In the winter we recommend you sit by one of the real fires with a pint of Jail Ale and warm the cockles of your heart.

The food is well known in the village and further afield as being of good quality. The choice is good and there's plenty of it, though a little on the boring side for vegetarians. Prices are keen and service is good. You might also try 'The Railway' in Two Bridges Road for good beer. No accommodation here
