Wortley Almshouses

Perfectly placed this pub is a short hop from the railway station and you can see the Oakham Brewery Tap from the front door. So, well worth a stop, though not necessarily for the choice of beers as it only serves Sam Smith's OBB. However, it is kept well, and cant be found everywhere.

The food is also good, with large portions on our visit, though the range is traditional and there is a limited choice for vegetarians. Prices are fair for the food.

You enter in the middle almshouse and the bar is in front of you, though you have to choose to go left or right to get to it. To the right is the no smoking area with a small bar area - there is seating in the window at oblong tables. A further two areas are beyond this, the final area being the larger where square tables and chairs are set out on a flag floor with a large fireplace.

The right hand side of the pub is where the toilets are - again a small bar area serves customers at bar stools and has the window seats and pews.

Access for the disabled is possible to the bar area, but the toilet are up a step - unless there is a disabled toilet that is not labelled on the level, but we saw no evidence for it.

No accommodation here, but there is plenty available in Peterborough.
