Malt Shovel Tavern

This is a good pub in Northampton, set in a ring road south of the city centre.

The pub is very welcoming and friendly. You can enter from the front or the rear, but the bar is at the front to the right of entrance. Here you will find up to 8 handpumps serving well-kept beer from the local brewers. If you are interested then they serve a number of continental (Belgian) beers in bottles.

Seating is at a mixture of tables with chairs and stools. There is a reasonable amount of seating although it can get busy in the evenings.

No food here.

For the summer there are picnic tables out back, though no grass.

Live music Wednesdays.

There is no car park and the only one that's free is the Morrison's.

Not too far from the motorway if you are passing, just head straight into the town.

Well worth a stop.
