Woodman Inn

This pub is a real community pub as the Woodman is the focal point of the village. The small car park outside fills up really quickly, and there is not really anywhere else to park - this pub is on the road through the village. Once you enter you are in the bar, though there is an area to the right of the entrance with tables and chairs. The bar is to the rear of the pub and is a light wood affair with tall stools. The Woodman serves three real ales including a single guest ale - Caledonian Six Nations on this occasion. All are well kept and were in good condition - prices reflected the local area and were good. In front of the bar there is a large TV screen - though the volume is kept down. Some stools and tables are in front of the fire and there is a window seat with padded bench. Food is served here both lunch and evenings and is wholesome and filling - like warming pumpkin soup in winter. More traditional options are available. The only fly in the ointment is that the toilets are outside - cold in winter. If you get caught short there is a deep well in the bar. For the summer there is a nice garden with seating out back. Beer festivals are held Easter and August bank holiday weekends. This is a good pub and I recommend a visit if passing - they even have a guest ale on on a Sunday.
