Buddle Inn

This pub is an old farmhouse standing close to the cliff path at the southernmost tip of the island. It dates back to the 16th century in parts and has been an inn since 1850. The decor inside has the look of a "Moonfleet" pub for those of you who remember the film. There are stone flags, a huge inglenook fireplace with exposed stone walls all around. As its by the cliff there are good sea views from the garden and gentle walks along the cliffs can start or end here. Children are welcome in the converted barn where there is a games room. Beers on at the time in were Bass, Boddingtons, Flowers IPA and more pleasingly Breakspear. Food, served 11.30-2.30 & 6-10 (Sun 12-2, 7-9.30), is wholesome and well prepared and includes vegetarian dishes. Come for the views, stay for the hospitality.
