Ye Olde Mitre

The Olde Mitre Tavern is hidden down an alleyway on Hatton Garden - look for the old crooked street lamp and a small sign in the shape of a bishop's mitre.

The pub is tiny, which may be a clue as to why it shuts at weekends, also that no one lives round this area.

It has two downstairs bars and a further room upstairs which is generally used as an overflow bar or for functions. All are wood panelled, cosy and relaxing. There are no TV's, gaming machines or music.

Originally built in 1547 for the servants of the Palace of the Bishops of Ely.

Food (snacks) is served here all day until 9.30pm.

Nearest tube is Chancery or Farringdon
