The Mitre
As this is a Young's pub, all the beers are from them.
This pub is billed as 'Lancaster Gate's undiscovered friendly saloon bar' and to some extent I would agree. It has plenty of character both inside and out. Being a corner pub it has a friendly interior where you are pushed towards each other so you need to be a friendly person. The bare floor in the bar area sees you having plenty of space to get served as the bar has a long lazy 'J' shape. Handpumps are situated towards the middle.
The second non-bar room is to the rear where the toilets are. Here you will find a dimly lit seating area with comfy chairs and a sofa. This is out of sight of the bar, but close enough to get served easily.
There is food served here and it is fresh and filling, though is normal pub food. However, that's what a pub should be to me.
There is also a function room for meetings or special events. It can accommodate up to 100 people 'buffet' style or it can be set up in conference or meeting styles with chairs for less people.
There is a step up into the pub and while not high, might be difficult for lone wheelchair access.
