The Griffin Inn

Over the years the style of the Inn has developed by a continuing programme of up-grading all the facilities. Every part of the building has been refurbished at least once. Last year all the bedrooms were upgraded with new furniture, fittings and decor to give a more contemporary country feel. All the changes still aim to retain the relaxed rural ambience of a family run inn. The bedrooms are all named after the famous salmon flies. The creeper-clad inn is on the corner of the main road from Builth to Brecon, festooned with colour through the season. The inn always has a very welcoming aura. Food at the Griffin aims to use the best local produce, in-season and from as many small producers in the area as possible. During the season game always features on the menu. The Griffin's bar is always well stocked with several real ales including Tomos Watkin, Wye Valley and Theakstones. A wine list, with over a dozen available by the glass, encompasses the traditional areas of Europe and the New World, at user-friendly rural prices. The bar is the hub of much village activity with many locals using it as a centre for exchange of rural opinions and country banter. Even the local vicar uses the bar for recruiting his congregation. Every autumn the harvest festival engages almost every member of the local community for contributions of produce from chutneys and jams to pumpkins and Michaelmas geese. Bed and breakfast room rates start from: (per person per night), single from ?45, double from ?35, Sunday - Thursday B&B (minimum two nights) From ?50. Weekly and off-peak rates are available.
