Walter de Cantelupe Inn
On the A38 (about 1.5 miles from Junction 7 of the M5), this genuine free house village pub is set back off the road round a bend from the much busier Talbot pub.
Inside their is a single 'L' shaped bar that serves a pub which has now been refurbished. There is a raised split drinking area at the front with wooden tables and chairs throughout (also some leather chairs). Here there is a large walk-in fireplace that comforts the clientele in the winter.
The lower drinking area has traditional beams and houses the wooden bar decorated in red and gold.
Usual well kept ales on at the time were: Everards Beacon, Taylor Landlord and Malvern Black Pear. The guest changes regularly. Request's to remove the sparkler are welcomed (in the old days if you showed your CAMRA card you got a discount).
Good food - from traditional ploughman's to restaurant choices - is this pubs specialty, and it sells more beer than lager. A limited choice for vegetarians though.
At present the toilets are basic.
For the summer they do BBQs and paella parties in the hidden garden.
Access for the disabled is up a step to the raised drinking area and the toilets would be hard to negotiate for wheelchair users.
