The Green Bricks

The Green Bricks dates back to 1806 when it was the New Dock Tavern and is named after the ornate glazed green tiling outside which partially covers the outside.

Stained-glass double doors serve as the entrance to this large, open-plan and fairly traditional pub. It has plenty of tables and chairs for eating at the front, and facing you is the long bar with a brass rail along the bottom.

Green Bricks has a nautical theme, so there are model boats in the windows, pairs of oars attached to the walls as well as framed pictures of old liners, steam ships and fishing boats. The lower half of the walls are wood paneled.

There's a pool table at the far end, big plasma screens dotted around the room and you can flop down on their low, green and red Chesterfield-style sofas. At the weekend it can get busy.

There are three ales on tap with a solitary one being a guest.

Food is traditional pub fare, but is filling and not too expensive.

For the summer there is a beer garden at the front with views over the marina.
