Albert Hotel

The Albert hotel is just that, a hotel right in the heart of the town. Built in 1879 it is a corner building near the shops and the Kirkgate Shopping Centre. The beauty of Huddersfield is that almost everything is within the ring road and its not a broad one either. The Albert is a dual level pub with a single bar that follows the change in height. The dark wood bar has etched glass in the overhang, though I couldn't tell what of. The dark traditional pub carpet, is complimented by the dark round tables with stools and leather covered bench seating around the walls. On the upper level there are some booths with similar seating. Space is always at a premium, but the beers are great - Taylor's Landlord, Flowers Original plus others. All were served with the Northern head on, but staff will remove the sparkler if you require. Food is served here and the menu is full of snacks or main meals like Swordfish or steak at reasonable prices. There is a dining room at the rear which provides more space. Food is served lunch and evening. One thing to note is that the beer choice picks up toward the end of the week and weekend.
