The Kings Arms Hotel

Oak beams, an open fire and friendly faces greet visitors as they walk through the door of this 500-year-old Inn, which has nine tastefully furnished comfortable bedrooms.

The bar is a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike, with plenty to talk about over a pint of real ale - up to four on at any one time. They always have a local Cumbrian brew on.

There is not a lot of room inside for seating, which only adds to the character of the place as you feel part of a family with the close atmosphere.

On sunny days, you can sit outside in the beer garden just watching the world go by. Look out for the wood carving of the King.

The selection of malt whiskies is unrivaled in the area.

Food is served here 12-2.30 and 6-9.30pm daily. There is a varied choice of food, for the bar or sit down restaurant to the right of the bar.

You can stay here, but they also have self-catering accommodation available nearby.

The peaceful Square outside is access only for cars, but there is free parking (if you are staying) in the pay and display car park nearby.
