Situated not far from Wantage on the A338 this pub is next to a rail bridge. Actually the pub is about 1 mile from the village but it's still a local.

On any day you can step inside and see people who look like they live there. Seriously, this is a real find. Steps up into the single bar means it's no good for the disabled, but once inside it is pleasant enough with white papered walls and plenty of painted wood. Chairs are benches in the bay windows and tables/stools/chairs elsewhere. The long 'L' shaped bar has plenty of handpumps and as this is a Hook Norton pub, there are usually four of their beers on. This time Mild, Best, Generations and Old Hooky, plus a guest from Breakspear - Special.

By the toilets is a pool table, dart board, fruit machine and TV for the sport. All the vices are in one area so if you don't like any you can sit round the other side.

Or on a hot day you can sit out in the beer garden. To get there you must walk past the big dog's - nice doggy - sleeping area and through the car park to the grass area with children's swings, etc.

A bit near the mainline railway though for those with a nervous disposition. Good value food is served lunch and evenings, but not Sunday or Monday. There is accommodation here but it wasn't seen on this visit.
