The Oxford Bar

Apparently the pub that Ian Rankin uses a lot, though don't expect to see him. A little out of the way, despite being in the centre of the new town. It is a converted house and has a small front bar and a rear lounge.. The story has it that it was given the ame Oxford due to a printing press stationed next door at the time. As this was a private house it would have had servants, these would probably have been living in what is now the pub. If you look closely enough you can see the old gas pipes and fireplace.
There are panelled walls and pictures of Scotland on the walls amongst other bits of memorabilia. Getting to the lounge is up steps, but it has a fireplace and more comfortable seating.

No food here as such, but they do pues and gravy all day. All pubs are no smoking in Scotland now, so if you do wish to smoke you will have to go outside where a canopy has been laid on for your unsociable habit.
