Hampshire Bowman

This is a classic country pub down a classic country lane - beware in the deep of winter as this is a single lane track.

It has two friendly bars after refurbishment and has a brick floor and wooden panels which was once an abattoir - no Texas Chainsaw here.

Don't let this put you off the food though as it's very good available everyday. Food is available at the following times: 12-2, 6-9 (Mon-Thu), 12-9 (Fri-Sun), Sun 2-3.

Beers are good, with lots to choose from, especially their own brews from the Bowman Brewery. These are all served from the casks behind the bar and have no sparklers on. The landlord has been co-brewer at Cheriton. For those not interested in beer there are country wines.

There is plenty of eating here, both inside and out. There are no fruit machines or jukeboxes and children under the age of 14 are permitted in the newer Stable Bar only until 9pm.

The pub operates a 'strictly no mobile phones' policy. Phones ringing are subject to a £1 fine in the Charity Bottle.

There is a quiz night here on Mondays.

No accommodation I'm afraid, though you can pitch your tent if you like? There are occasional music/beer festivals held here in summer.
