The Black Swan Inn

Situated in Culgaith, The Black Swan Inn is a traditional 17th Century Cumbrian Inn with oak beams, an open fire for winter and peaceful garden for summer. The Black Swan offers good home-cooked food including a traditional Sunday lunch. The cosy bar also offers a selection of real ales.

The dining room is non-smoking, and this is where you also have breakfast, which is again freshly cooked to order. All the bedrooms are tastefully furnished and include colour TV and tea-making facilities. All but one have an en-suite shower or bathroom. Finding the pub is not easy, but worth the effort.

The Black Swan is near the centre of the friendly village of Culgaith in the heart of the Eden valley, one mile off the A66 between the ancient market towns of Appleby and Penrith. The Black Swan is close to the river Eden (famous for its fishing) and the Settle to Carlisle Railway which passes through the village. It is ideally situated for the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Borders. There are numerous activities to occupy your stay, including shooting, fishing, boating, golf, walking, swimming, cycling or train spotting (steam).

If, of course, you just want or relax, The Black Swan has en-suite.

Landlords Ken and Joy have created a welcoming environment that is well worth a visit.
