This pub is not easy to find. Just follow the road either from the motorway (turning will be on right) or from the other direction (turning on left). You will see a large yellow roadside sign for the pub. Turn down this road and keep going over the single track humpback canal bridge and the pub is on your left once over. A large pub, it has an outside area for children and welcomes families. The main bar is up some steps and does not cater for children here. The bar is to the right of entrance and usually serves three guest ales, but in winter these are irregularly put on as custom is not great. Stools at the bar, but turn left and marvel at the U-shaped seating area with a bench seat going right round the wall with copper topped round tables and stools. The large real fireplace at the end has a huge mirror above it, but the fireplace itself is tiled in a bright colour. Decor is subdued with pictures of local scenes and blue and white Delph pottery dotted about. Here there is a fruit machine and a TV on the bar. A separate no smoking family room is available with flat access. The pub is actually in between the canal and the river Calder, so it can get misty outside at times. Food is served at lunchtimes and evening and is traditional pub fayre, though we were told it was due for a revamp and upgrade in the near future - i.e. summer.
