Bay View Inn

Situated on the coastal road 2 miles south of Bude, overlooking the beaches in sunny Cornwall. The Bay View is a good standard inn with gas log fire in main bar. Smallish establishment with an excellent 'Locals' trade out of season. Can get busy in summer! The pub also has great views of the sea and sunset from the beer garden and rooms. The Bay View has plenty to offer the real ale drinker: Sharp's Own 4.4% @ ?1.95; Sharp's Doombar 4.0% @ ?1.90; Skinner's Boys beer 3.4% @ ? 1.65; Cottage Brewery Golden Arrow 4.5% @ ?1.95. All ales are well kept and presented in oversized glasses and are reasonably priced. Food is served 12-2.30pm and 6-9pm. The staffing is good and you can see the landlord and his son serving in the bar. Food is traditional and good quality, but menu is limited. The landlord says: "We are a pub that does food not a restaurant that does beer!" Great value for money on their "Low Season Breaks" which knocks 10% off the price! There is accommodation here, extremely clean and comfortable with a views across the sea. Good controllable central heating and great value. Yes I know you can get B&B for ?10-?15 a night but not quite like this. Rating 2. Friendly people, great beer and VFM accommodation. The worst, the weather (The Inn is not protected in any way from the force of the wind!). Well worth a visit.

Comments

The beers are still excellent but a correction is needed to the range. "Cottage" brew was only a guest and has been replaced (several times) by different lines. At present they are selling Carling Lager (UGh!!) at ?1.50 a pint and the Kitches Klassic at ?1.35. Don't seem a bad deal! New barman just started to replace Simon and seems to know what he's doing! New cook also and food standards have shot up even more. (Lee Sycamore),br>
Sorry but slight amendment to prices, Sharp's Own ?2.00, Doombar ?1.95, Kitch's Klassic ?1.75, (Generally a 5p increase thanks to inflation!). BUT we still have the offers of the week which at present is Kitch's and Worthington at ?1.50 a pint! Sharp's have also introduced a new line called "Eden" (ABV 4.4%) to celebrate the opening of the "Eden Project" which is proving to be very popular and very different to "Own" available at ?2.00 a pint. Keep up the good work guys, nice site! (Dave Kitchener)

What an upgrade!! Real ale drawn straight from the cask! Our new 4 gang stillage in the bar allows us to offer up to 8 real ales (Mostly local brews) thanks to Skinners and Sharp's Brewery who supplied the gear. Annual price increase WILL be LESS than most other pubs. Kitch's Klassic still on at ?1.70 a pint with special guest ales at special prices. "Charles Wells Bombardier" available for St Georges day only ?1.75 a pint whilst stock last and the cheapest Stella and Grolsh around at ?2.35, Guinness ?2.40. (negotiations in hand to peg or even decrease prices) Is now known as "Bude's Real Ale House" (Dave Kitchener - 23/4/03)
