This pub has closed.

This was a rather sad looking pub on the road between Bedworth and Bulkington. It is situated right next to the canal towpath and makes a good stop. Only serving one real ale from Slaughterhouse, it is very much a welcome sight in what could be a real ale desert. The pub was deserted when we went on a Friday night and that was unfortunate as the beer was good and there was plenty of seating for all in the triangular shaped bar. The decor is very much old fashioned with patterned wallpaper and plush carpet, dark wooden tables and chairs - though a refurbishment is on the cards. A high ceiling makes the atmosphere less constrained than most pubs and the dark wood central bar has a London back street boozer feel to it. As I said, only one ale is served and there is not much in the way of foreign lager choice for the non real ale drinker. There is a public bar with pool table at the back and shares the other side of the bar. Here there is a bare floor and TV. The toilets are on this side of the pub and are OK, though nothing special. Food is served here both lunch and evening and there are some good choices for vegetarians. The rest of the menu is traditional pub food at good prices. Worth a stop off, about half a mile form the station.
