Milbury's

This pub is off the A272 behind Hinton Ampner - the country house. It is well worth seeking out.

From the outside it is not much to look at and you have to be eagle-eyed to spot it in some directions.

You enter from the car park and there is a bar to the right (possible wheelchair access) where the drinking is more civilised and refined, but it is smaller and so has less seating than the main bar area.

The main bar is down a step and behind you at that point. It is reasonably long and has four ales on, two regulars and a couple of guests on this visit. All were well kept and served without sparkler. The seating here is in small booth style which limits the seating, but if you pass the large and room warming fireplace, you will go through a doorway to another seating are where you can see the bottom of the large water wheel over the 300-feet deep well. To see the top go up the stairs and sit in the 'minstrel's gallery'.

A skittle alley compliments the pub. The food is all home-made and well cooked and presented. Some interesting choices suit all tastes and are reasonably priced. Food can be served anywhere in the pub, but it is not all day, just lunch and evening at the moment.

Find this pub, you wont be disappointed.
