The Market Tavern
This pub used to be the brewery tap of the Warwickshire Beer Company, but is now a thriving cask and keg bar.
It has a couple of rooms - the bar in the middle - a smaller room at the back with fruit machine. Recently refurbished and looking to open up the upstairs room.
It's an 18th century pub, situated in Market Street on Atherstone's market square (parking opposite, but very short stay). It is an impressive building in almost picturesque surroundings.
The pub is a simple two-roomed hostelry, with a larger bar on entering and a smaller back bar to the rear. The back room is also the entry to a narrow rear garden/patio area where they sometimes have beer festivals and BBQ's.
Seven hand-pulled beers are available every day. Up to 10 craft beer taps plus a selection of real ciders. They also have a range of continental bottled beers.
The toilets are OK, but not good for the disabled.
Food is available (street food style) and is a good selection of classics.
Staff very friendly.
Opposite is the Angel Inn and to the rear of the square is St. Mary's Parish Church.
Comments
Quite pricey and in contrast to the Angel Inn across the square..
