The Tudor Oaks Lodge

Located approximately a mile from junction 10 of the A1, between Stotfold and Astwick. The Tudor Oaks is an old coaching inn dating back hundreds of years. The site is also mentioned in the Doomsday book.

The main house is the oldest part being an H framed oak timber building, a Jacobean staircase was added later. They say highwayman frequented it along with their victims travelling the road.

The Oaks Bar has solid oak beams and hand made brick fireplaces. On the walls you will find olde worlde nik knaks - note the model of a Fowler traction engine.

The lodge has been in the CAMRA guide for 10 years and serves quality real ales from far and indeed, local breweries. They also stock real cider and perry and a few Belgian beers.

Seating is a mixture of sofas and stools and traditional pub tables.

Food is served here and is a good selection of bistro dishes - sadly lacking in vegetarian options on this visit. However, ask and they will offer you a small choice of dishes.

They do accommodation here and it is well kept and stylish, some rooms have 4-poster and large stand alone baths - all rooms are en-suite.

There are conference/wedding facilities available here and a large car park. For the summer there is an outside seating area.
