The King's Head

Midway between Stratford-upon-Avon and Henley-in-Arden, the king's Head is in the heart of Shakespeare country.

It lies in Aston Cantlow, one of those lost in time English villages that this part Warwickshire does so well.

The King's Head has polished rustic wooden furniture and piles of chopped logs for the crackling fire. The ceilings are so low that anybody over 6ft must stoop at the bar and duck under the timber door frames.

There's an a la carte menu as well as sandwiches and ploughman's. The perfect foil to a pint of Pure Gold ale brewed in a neighbouring village by the Purity Brewing Company.
