The Stag

A traditional pub that backs onto Ascot Racecourse. The landlords John and Lena Regelous have made the Stag a welcoming pub.

The Stag is a traditional high street pub that is a popular favourite with the punters as it backs neatly onto the racecourse.

The pub serves the good beers of Greene King. On at the time were I.P.A. and Abbot.

Home made food is served at reasonable prices Monday to Saturday 11.30-2.30pm and 5.30-9.30pm. outside there is a courtyard come beer garden at the rear with a grassed area.

No accommodation here.

The pub you mention in Ascot High Street, The Stag, was recently refurbished. It's now got no bar atmosphere and they are concentrating on restaurant only. It's horrendously expensive. The best pub in the Ascot area is about 1/2 mile up the road towards Windsor called The Rose and Crown at Woodside. It's just 1/2 mile from Ascot racecourse.

Excellent food and beers. They have a website www.roseandcrownascot.com I think. Check it out - the food is great. (25/1/04)

Fantastic food. Maybe pricey, but well worth it. The presentation is fantastic. Ambience is really good too. (20/7/04)
