The Lord Nelson Inn

This is a CAMRA entry most years. It serves at least three of the ales brewed in an old storage shed attached to the beer garden.

The Nelson has one small public bar at the front of the pub for the public which is decked out with benches and tables and chairs. The bar is longish and has a low ceiling. The other side of the bar is very small with a couple of stools and reminds you of a restaurant waiting area. And that's really what it is as this part of the pub is for food. An 'E' shaped room, it has seating at square tables for four, often with tablecloths.

There is also the "Victory" restaurant, done up like the ward room of the ship "Victory". In here you will find French and English cuisine. The food generally is good which is why it is best to book as it can get busy during the week. Food is served seven days a week both lunch and evening and there is a (limited) choice for vegetarians.

Note the fish tank at the rear entrance - look but don't eat.

For the summer there is a patio beer garden at the side of the pub.

Access for the disabled is possible to the "Victory" restaurant, but not really to the rest of the pub/toilets.

No accommodation here.

This has its own brewery (sperrin) in its outbuilding. Regular beer festivals held here.

Comments

Had a disappointing meal in here last night (31/5/07). Ordered sea bass, got trout. My disappointment was compounded when the chef swore blind he had no trout on the menu or in the pub. So, for him:

This is a Sea bass as is this

This is a Trout and this
