Victoria Inn

This pub has been extensively refurbished in the last year or so and now has a huge tiered room with a small bar in addition to the traditional bar. You enter from the main road and the main bar is to the right. Here there are traditional dark carpets and small round tables with stools - some stools at the bar as well. A small bar serves you the guest ales - served with sparkler. There are usually two ales noted on the blackboard outside the main entrance, it was a Nethergate one this time. Service is friendly, though the pub feels empty on a Saturday lunchtime as it is so big now. Walk past the illuminated aquarium and round into the other bar. It is huge with plenty of seating and a step halfway down, though the disabled can use the ramp corridor next to it. There is a pool table and a TV here overlooking the beer garden , which is a concrete affair with picnic benches. There is outdoor heating for the winter too. The toilets have been refurbished recently. No food is served here, though you are near the centre of Alfreton, so the choice is good to eat out. Parking your car is almost impossible here as it is a main road and the narrow side street has plenty of residents cars. Not far from Alfreton train station either, so well worth a visit if in the area.
