The Brewery Tap
For real-ale enthusiasts in search of a first-class pint, this is the place to locate in Abingdon.
The distinctive Morland buildings brewery is right next door in the town centre. Stop here and visit this Grade II listed brick pub; originally it housed brewery offices and the head brewer's cottage, then it became store rooms before becoming a pub in 1993, perfectly positioned at the brewery gates.
Here, in the comfortable and neatly refurbished bar areas, one can sample the complete range of Morland's cask conditioned ales - Old Speckled Hen, Tanner's Jack, Original, Independent IPA and seasonal bitters.
All are kept, as one would expect in tip-top condition. Its not known if they serve food.
Comments
2002: Morlands were taken over by Greene King, so the only beer that remains is Old Speckled Hen. The brewery building itself has been turned into houses and apartments. Yes, they do food, Monday to Saturday (daytimes) and it is very good. (Grahame)
