A small 2 room pub on a tight bend that's been in the same family for over 60 years. The landlady is (2nd generation) and her mum still serves behind the bar too. The old single bar serves both areas and can get busy as it's quite small. You walk into the bar which has a stone flag floor off a car park and this, the car park, is where the toilets are as well - that's right - outside! Whitewashed walls predominate rather like a farmhouse kitchen with a fireplace as well, but sadly no fire. There were seven lots of Woods beers on at the time: Parish, Special, Shropshire Lad, etc. plus Wadworths 6X and Marston's Pedigree. Prices were good and cheap too. Beers were at £1.45 a pint and that's not bad is it? The second room is seating only, bench seats (pews) and stools with tasteless coving, plastic flowers abound. Lots of tasteless dead fish(ing) trophies adorn the walls as well. The fish is called Pinkie (caught 1992 weighing 40lb 4oz) by the way!!! For the winter there is a radiator and double-glazing. This is really a mans pub. No food, but right on the doorstep of the railway station. No music and a beer garden next to the road. Wheelchair access is OK to the public bar, though there is little room to manoeuvre. Well worth a visit. No accommodation.
