An old style country pub with at least four rooms, some inaccessible for the disabled. All have pine furniture tables and chairs which makes it a 'bright' pub. There is a selection of six real ales, though only the guests are worth the wait/drive (Theakston's XB,  Theakston's Best Bitter,BASS, John Smith's, Tetley, Ruddles County, Marstons Pedigree), the guests on this occassion were Bateman's Jollys and Exmoor Gold. Food is home-cooked served lunch 12-2pm and evening 6-9.30pm. A traditional Sunday lunch is served 12-2pm. Occassional specials include free wine or starters & sweets - not weekends though. The food includes home made soups £1.95; Fisherman's Pot (fish, prawn, & mussels in a cheese sauce) £4.95; Poacher's Fayre (venison, tomato & mushrooms in a rich port sauce) £4.95; Pincer Pot (turkey, mushroom, pepper & onion in a white wine sauce) £4.95; Mushroom Goulash (with Onion, Celery, Pepper & Walnut), Vegetable Curry and daily vegetarian specials £4.95 Each. This is a traditional village pub in the heart of the Leicestershire Wolds 5 miles East of Loughborough and 12 miles south of Nottingham. The atmosphere here is great, friendly and relaxed. The Three Crowns is a "traditional pub" with a good selection of well-kept beers, wine and spirits, good conversation and a warm welcome for all. They normally have Marston' Pedigree and Adnams Bitter as regulars, and usually have two guest beers, sometimes from the Belvoir Brewery, such as Whippling or Beaver Bitter. Food is available at Lunchtime 12-2.30 and sometimes in the evening, though ring first to check. Food ranges from chips to a full blown large steak with the trimmings. Outside is a spacious beer garden. Opening times 11.30 to 3.00 & 5.30 (Sat 6.00) to 11.00, Sunday 12.00 to 3.00 7.00 to 10.30. No accommodation here.

Additional Notes: The review is now a little dated and as the new landlady of the three crowns i just wished to add to it. we still serve 4 real ales-permanent ales are Marstons pedigree & Adnams & we rotate the 2 guest ales weekly, for example we have full bloom (York) & golden eagle (Cotleigh) on at the moment. we still use Belvoir brewery regularly as before. Food is now served 12-2.30 at lunch & also some evenings. Prices start from a £1.00 for a large bowl of chips up to £9.75 for a 10oz sirloin steak. we now allow children, well behaved dogs & their owners!! it is still a friendly, cosy welcoming traditional pub and we have a Petanque pitch at the top of the car park & have 6 teams in the league plus darts teams also. the first Monday of every month is now quiz night and we will be having the odd night of entertainment.
