WIMBLEDON
The Wibbas Down Inn - (6-12 Gladstone Road) (0181 540 6788). This pub is situated near the theatre, in fact it has a theatre bar. A large building with one bar area winding its way around the single floor, it is sited on the blind spot of a one way bend! Apart from that it is just off the South Wimbledon high street, sort of near the South Wimbledon tube station (turn right and head on through the lights and its about second on the right). As with all other Wetherspoon's, it has the decor you'll be familiar with and the seating arrangements. Another good aspect is that the food is the same and well proportioned, though the persistent use of garlic on everything can put some people off (are you listening Mr. Wetherspoon?). the beers on at the time were Bunces TEA and Cains Christmas Special, both served well (with or without the sparkler) and not too cool. While there is no accommodation Rating at the pub, there is a hotel a short walk down the high street (carry straight on past the pub turning, theatre and Majestic wine) away called the Wayfarer Inn. Prices start at £50 for a weekend break. (Robert)
