Close to Mount St Bernard's abbey & Oaks in Charnwood. The pub has a smart appearance with two bars, two entrances front & rear, large car park. plans for a real fire are in process. The pub is a real ale pub & does not do food. I say you cant do both drink & eat! Very good ales must be visited!
An estate pub built in the 1960's you really notice it from a distance. Set quite a way out of Whitwick at the far end of Hall Lane, there is a big car park, but the pub looks unattractive and unwelcoming. However, the atmosphere inside is fine, if a little interested in strangers to these parts. There are two bars, the public with its stone floor in part and pool table/dartboard. Traditional bench seats down the wall sides and Formica topped tables. The lounge bar is more comfy with tables and chairs and carpet. The pub does no food but has occasional live events. Originally a keg only pub the landlord has made it possible to have a real ale on - it tends to go swiftly so beware if visiting on a Sunday. Toilets are basic but serviceable and there is access for the disabled. Busses from Leicester stop nearby, but otherwise you will need a car to visit.
