This is not your typical Wetherpsoon. Instead of the bland same interior you get in the chain across the country, you get bright coloured walls in yellow and orange and a lighter airy feel. Typically there is wheelchair access and a 'proper' toilet and there is also space to manoeuvre. The bar however, is stuck in a very narrow strip to the right of the entrance and down a bit. If it's your first time here, you will wonder where the bar is. Keep walking straight ahead and it will 'appear' to your right. As such the two front spaces are clear for sitting (though standing room only on Saturday night). Towards the back of the pub are narrower 'corridors' with sturdy tables and chairs, out back is a beer garden of sorts. A pleasant change from the usual Wetherspoon. Beer on at the time was Hop Back Summer Lightening. Food as always, is efficient and wholesome and well priced too. Served until 10pm, it can be a blessing when arriving late in a town. The rail station is close by. No accommodation here but try: Mount Hotel, Chester Road, Whitchurch.
