Just off the Blackburn Rd A674, this pub is on the outer fringes of the village. A large car park is on the opposite side of the road. The Dressers is home to the Old Wheelton Brewery. Unfortunately this is likely to be the only place you will get to try the beers for a while as it is only brewing for the pub at present. One of its beers is always on - the Big Frank's on this occasion was very tasty, fruity and went down a treat. From the outside the pub is a row of terraced cottages, though as this is an upward slope we were surprised with the lack of access problems for those with disabilities. There are only two areas you cant get into - the seating past the bar to the left of entrance and the restaurant. while this latter might be a problem, you can eat throughout the pub and there are many tables and pub signrooms for you to do so. These many rooms all have an olde worlde feel, heavy with brasses and stuffed animals and images of old village life. The entrance is into a seating area with a wood burning stove that pumps out a lot of heat in winter. Above the fireplace is a chalk board with a menu, though they also appear on the table. Types of food are good and there is plenty to choose from, including vegetarian. Prices are on average £6 for a main course, rising with steak, etc. There is little by way of sandwiches for the non meat eater though. The bar is to the left of the entrance and feels spacious, even though it is a narrow affair with dark wood overhang for glasses. The array of hand pumps all line up here and you are spoilt for choice. The guests are good and all beers are served with a sparkler - you get stared at asking for its removal - but nonetheless taste good. A real Chinese restaurant is upstairs if you fancy that. There is a no smoking room if you prefer and it is close to the brewery. For the summer there is seating outside and somewhere for the kids.
