Situated behind the fire station this pub was acquired by Ringwood in 1998, and reputedly Weymouth's oldest pub. The Boot is close to the harbour opposite Weymouth's original town hall. Steeped in history, the Boot is an excellent place to enjoy a pint of traditional Ringwood Ale in the company of the Ghost and Local Fishermen. A full range of Ringwood beers along with a choice guest ales are served. There is a real fire in this quiet pub. As this is a seaside resort, there is an outdoor drinking area along with lunchtime and evening meals. No accommodation here.
This Hopback pub is a real gem and well worth
seeking out. It is behind the main shopping area by the open air car parks
(check map). Hopback have done with the Dolphin what they did to all their other
purchases and made it into an essential stop off in Weymouth. They stock the
usual well kept and served beers from Hopback plus a guest ale. These are sold
at what for these days is an amazing price - £1.50 odd a pint. This Wetherspoon
territory and it makes you wonder why other brewing pub owning groups and even
other pub owning micros cant match this price. However, a large
This free house is on the seafront but has a nightclub above - so watch out on Friday and Saturday nights. Located on the Esplanade it is believed to have once been a Victorian Tearoom. It has also been a fish & chip restaurant - note the sign. It keeps up to seven real ales on tap in the high season. Food is served all day and is home cooked traditional food at keen prices for a seafront location. There is accommodation here in 7 rooms and breakfast is served till 11am! They also do special offers - book early in high season. Access for the disabled and close to the station. Beer garden also.
Not far from the Dorset Brewing Company site, this pub is on the quay and has views of the boats coming in and unloading. This means that it gets busy in summer as tourists sit in the beer garden outside watching the boats. For the winter there is a conservatory. As it is so close to the Dorset brewing company, they usually serve two or three of their beers and without the sparkler they are rather tasty. Prices are average and if you prefer Courage Directors you can try it here. Food is served all day at weekends (check for other times) and is traditional and wholesome. Prices are again average and portions acceptable. Seating inside takes you back a few years as it still has the odd shape and setting that the building had originally - though they have extended it into offices next door. Seating is at a mixture of tables and chairs, though space in the bar area is limited. Access for the disabled is possible, though not through the door by the bar. Also there is a no smoking area available. Children are welcome if having food inside and outside also. Another good stop if you are in Weymouth and not far from the Dolphin or the Dorothy both over the swing bridge. Accommodation listed gets you close to all the pubs on this page.
