Situated on the
A592 - overlooking Ullswater lake. A
traditional Lakeland coaching inn, with really friendly staff. Full disabled
access, including a suite with proper shower, etc. The food served here is
tremendous. A full bar menu has loads of veggie options & a kids menu. Main
courses are about £8 and there is a 5 course dinner menu in the evenings for
about £20. The food (served 12-2.30 and 6.30-9pm) is plentiful and staff very
helpful. Lots of local specialities food wise too. Quite popular so often best
to book.. There are stunning views from the outside which are good year round.
For the winter there is a real fire. If you fancy it, darts are played here.
Open all year round, it is quietest in winter, but the welcome is just as good.
Beers on at the time were Coniston Bluebird and Jennings Cumberland Ale. Another
thing to notice is the generous spirits measures. This all combines to make the
inn very unpretentious with a very relaxing atmosphere. Accommodation here with
comfortable single rooms to spacious family-sized suites, one with full disabled
access. 17 rooms in total. B&B from £54 for 2 sharing. Best deal is the 3 (or
more) nights DB&B rate including a 3-course dinner. More information on

about the pub: food, drink, view, welcome, value for money. Worst: smoking is
allowed ... but only in the bar (& outside). OK - I know it's a very personal
thing but I just don't like smoke!
