More like Horbury proper as it's on the other side of the M1 to Wakefield and is closer to Ossett. But still worth the trip out as it has Landlord and a Clarke's beer on and always four real ales on tap. There is music here as well.
Only open from 5pm daily, this is another real ale haven in Wakefield serving up to seven guest ales. It's a small quiet one-roomed pub in the centre near Westgate station. It is a very placid place for those who want out of the hustle and bustle of life. There is no beer garden as such, but you can sit outside on the paved area. Access for the disabled is also good here. No accommodation here but see the Talbot and Falcon. Again no food is served here, but there are plenty of places around to get a bite to eat.
No relation to the one in Horbury. This is the brewery tap for Clarke's Brewery and so serves their real ales including Blonde and seasonal's plus the ubiquitous Landlord. It gets very busy at weekends with beer tourists and the like. It does not serve food but is close to the station. There are two rooms using barrels as tables, plus a jukebox and live music. There is also a thatched canopy above the bar. No accommodation here but try the Talbot and Falcon, another real ale pub in the town centre with changing guest ales. Also Try: The Redoubt, 28 Horbury Rd, Wakefield. (01924) 377085. Taylor's Landlord and Tetley's. Website Fernanded Brewery Tap, 5 Avison Yard, Kirkgate, WF1 1UA. (01924) 369547. (check opening times)
