A strange name for a pub, but the friendly locals inside and the
memorabilia give the game away. The Stan
Laurel is found the road down from
the roundabout with the now sadly closed Hartley's brewery on it with the Ford
showroom on the left. Easily reached by public transport, Ulverston
railway station is less than a mile away and the bus station just a few
hundred yards away. Beers served on this occasion were from Jennings plus Tetley Dark Mild. There are
three rooms and two bars, a lounge and a public bar/games room (TV), plus there
is a dining room for those quieter eating moments. This is a cosy pub. The small
bar serves the beers in excellent condition. The 6 hand pumps line up on the bar serving
a
wide range guests ales over the years, as evidenced by the beer clips on
display. There is a beer garden for the
summer and the railway station is not far away. Food is served but only at lunch
time including Sunday roast. Accommodation here, not seen on this occasion.
