Stisted.

Dolphin (Stisted, 2 miles east of Braintree on A120 Braintree, Essex) (01376) 321143. This picturesque 15th century two bar pub has been a hostelry for over 100 years. Beers on at the time were: Ridleys IPA, ESX and sometimes the tasty Mild. It also uses the old method of immersion to keep the barrels at the right temperature. Situated not far from Coggeshall's National Trust house (Paycocks), it is also close to the Cressing Temple, Braintree silk mills museum and Marks Hall country park and arboretum. The food is mainly pub meals and Sunday lunches, though they are of good quality and size. It doesn't do accommodation itself, but recommends bed and breakfast at Park Farm House, Bradwell village (01376) 563584, just down the road. This is not a pub for the disabled as it has a long flight of steps to get access at the front and while these can be avoided at the rear, there are awkward steps inside too. Opening times 11-3,6-11 Mon-Sat, Sunday 12-3, 7:30-10:30
(NOT TUE OR SUN)
